Participating in the University Honors Program

Experience the benefits of:

  • Early start on engaged learning and undergraduate research aimed at bolstering students’ undergraduate experiences and improving their ability to compete successfully for graduate and professional school entrance, national and international fellowships and scholarships, and leadership roles in their chosen vocation;
  • Membership in a small community of scholars focused on engaged learning from across the University;
  • Participation in and access to specially designed HON events;
  • Access to funding for travel and research; 
  • Access of the University Honors Activity House and the Tarver Library University Honors Program Study Room; and 
  • Designation as "University Honors" at Commencement for students who complete their college-specific UHP or the Mercer Service Scholars program. 

General Requirements of the University Honors Program

  • Completion of college or school-specific or Service Scholars coursework and requirements;
  • Successful completion of a culminating project appropriate to the program;
  • Presentation of work at BEAR Day, Engineering Expo, or a regional/national conference appropriate to the program;
  • Maintenance of a minimum GPA appropriate to the program.
